Implants

Implants are another way of fixing a false tooth permanently. A metal framework, usually made of titanium, is placed into the jawbone. onto which the false tooth or teeth are attached. Most modern implants last for up to 15 years or longer so once the treatment is complete, you shouldn't have any problems with your replacement tooth or teeth.

Putting the implants in place involves a number of stages. The first of these is a small operation. It's up to you whether you'd prefer this done under local or general anaesthetic. During the operation the titanium framework is attached to the jawbone. It is then left to 'bond' with your jawbone to ensure a really secure fit. This can take up to 3 months or longer. During this time, we'll fit a temporary 'restoration' tooth or teeth, so you won't be left with any gaps! Then, once your dentist is happy the framework in your jawbone is secure, we'll attach your new permanent replacement tooth or teeth.
