Change in Surgery
Times
As from Monday 2nd November 2009 Chilwell dp will be changing its' surgery
opening times. Surgery times will now alternate weekly and run on a fortnightly
cycle.

Keeping Appointments
Over the last 6 months, 443 people decided not to turn
up for the dental appointment they chose to make. Nor did they choose to let us
know they couldn't come. They chose instead to waste the practice time.
If you do need to change an appointment time, we request that you inform us
at least 48 hours in advance, in order for us to book another patient
in your allocated time.
As from 4th January 2010, if you choose not to turn up for your
appointment at Chilwell dp, and do not provide the required notice, we may no longer
provide NHS treatment for you.
What we do to help you keep your appointment

We find the best and most convenient appointment time
for you at the time you make an appointment at the desk, over the phone or via email.
Please make sure you have your diary available.

|
An appointment card can be printed out for you. Keep
it safe and make a note of the time of your next appointment in your diary or on
a calendar.
|
|
|
|
3.
|
We send a FREE text message to your
mobile 'phone a couple of days before your appointment is due. Please inform us
as soon as possible if you change your contact details. If you haven't done so already,
let us know your mobile telephone number so we can sign you up for this FREE
text reminder service.

Kid's Activity Days
 The recent Kid's Activity Days we
held over the October half-term were a great success. Children aged 2 to 16 enjoyed
the many activities and competitions that were put on to help them understand more
about oral health, hygiene and diet. Every child received a "goody bag" with stickers.
We'd like to thank all the children who took part and for the comments we received
from them.
The competition winners are Chloe F. (age 12) and Kain S. (age 9). They will both
receive some vouchers and electrically powered toothbrushes.

Mouth Cancer
 Mouth cancer is diagnosed in more
than 5000 people each year - a 40% rise in cases in just 10 years. Early detection
improves survival chances from around half of cases to more than 90% of cases.
Dental visits are absolutely vital. Check-ups look for potential problems, screen
for mouth cancer and arrangements are made for the teeth to be professionally cleaned
to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Preventing teeth and gum problems is as simple as brushing twice a day with a powered
tooth brush using a fluoride tooth paste. As the British dental Health foundation's
BDHF tagline goes - "if in doubt, get it checked out".

Walk the walk
 We did it. We walked marathons. In
fact, between us all, the "Chilwell dp Tooth Fairies" walked over 130 miles on the
night.
A really big thank you to all of the people who sponsored us. With your help we
raised £1689.42.
