Preventative treatment

We believe very strongly in preventative dentistry or preventing problems before they occur. A lot of restorative dental procedures, such as fillings or root canal treatments, can be avoided if you simply look after your teeth. This is true at any age too. With the right dental hygiene routine, regular dental check-ups and a healthy diet it's possible to keep your teeth throughout your life.

Brushing

There are two major dangers to teeth - tooth decay and gum disease. So when you come for a check-up we'll take a look at both your teeth and gums.

We also do a thorough check of your mouth to make sure it’s healthy too.

Tongue cleansing is a quick and efficient way to help achieve and sustain a healthy, fresh mouth.

Flossing

We'll also show you how to care for your teeth at home by brushing correctly and flossing. This will make sure that any plaque (an invisible film of bacteria which forms on your teeth) is removed.

It's also a good idea to avoid sugary foods and drinks because the sugar turns the plaque to acid, which can then cause tooth decay. Just think, if you spend a little longer brushing your teeth in the morning, and at night, you could save yourself the trouble of having to have a filling or other restorative treatment.

Plus of course, you'll have a pearly white smile and beautifully fresh breath!

Plaque can also cause inflammation of the gums so it's really worth making sure you keep your mouth healthy. As a preventative dental practice we'll also recommend minor treatments for your teeth when necessary, to prevent you needing major treatments later on.
